The night, I was in DC for the X Rated Fusion Liqueur event, we just so happened to stop at the W for drinks before heading over to a late night spot called Josephines. I was sitting in the lobby and glanced over, and who did I see… Chris Tucker!!! Now, I’m gonna be honest, I had a complete fan moment as I had just asked about him on twitter a few days before. The tweet was something in the tune of, ‘Where is Chris Tucker? I so miss him in movies’.
Now, mind you, I doubt if Chris Tucker knew who I was but that day I was a fan. I hauled ass to try to say ‘Hi’. He stopped briefly but those elevator doors he was standing near opened up, and he was out of there without saying a word. Needless to say, my little heart was crushed.
A few minutes later (through twitter ironically) I found out that he had been in the blogs for foreclosure and IRS stuff (something I knew nothing about and didn’t cover) so maybe he thought I was going to bring that up. … Sigh
That same night, in the same lobby, I ran into Asha Kamali (one of the creators of the web series ‘Milk & Honey”). She was super nice and we chatted about the show, Idris Elba (who executive produced the show) and Lance Gross. One thing, I did learn that night is that the voice memo on the Iphone can double easily as a voice recorder/interviewing device and when you are done, you can email the audio to yourself (or my assistant in this case). Super handy for interviews on the go!

Washington DC = Good times with Good People
Last week, I returned home to the ‘DMV’ to host an X Rated Fusion Liqueur Event at the Fathom Creative Art Gallery in Washington, DC. I was so excited to be back in town where I ran into friends I haven’t seen in a while like Robin from Baller Alert, Ian from Suite Nation, Sunni (WPGC) and my bestie Cherylin. A young lady by the name of Shawna (sp??) also came out. Believe it or not, she won a pair of Alexander Wang Booties last year from my website and she had she shoes on!! That made my night!
The theme for the night was Pink, so I wore a Party Dress by Naven that was perfect for the occasion. The event was attended by young professionals, influencers and tastemakers who networked and worked the room while sipping on X Rated Fusion Liqueur Cocktails. Music was provided by the lovely DJ KalKutta.
It was a pretty dope occasion if I should say so myself. I normally mix my X Rated with Sprite but the cocktails at the event were awesome. Some where mixed with Moet. Not a bad combination.
Hopefully, DC is the first stop of many many more!

Black Girls Rock.. an amazing event with a beautiful purpose.
I would be lying if I didn’t say the event left a somewhat lukewarm taste in my mouth and it had nothing to do with the show. Moments after I sat down in my assigned seat in the auditorium, a few girls that were ushering people to their seat said that they had a closer seat for us. So they walk us all the way to the front and sat us in the front row. I’m thinking, ‘This is what I call GOOD seats’. However, as soon as Erykah Badu finished her performance, she came off stage and guess who was sitting in her seats?? “ME!!!”. I knew there was a catch! So I had to get up and walk to the side of the stage before the usher started motioning for me to take the seat that was next to Erykah and her guests. ‘Phew! False alarm’, I was thinking.. so I take my seat again and not less than a minute later, Erykah is looking at me all funny because obviously she has a third person with her..and guess who is sitting in their seat? You guessed it.. ME!!. I got up, apologized and talked to her really quick and she congratulated me on the site and I scurried over to the side again. This time, the Usher motioned for me again and I put my hand out and said ‘NO, I’m not sitting anywhere else. I am NOT a seat filler’. I was HOT! Needless to say, I left a few minutes later and ran into some folks in the lobby who had the same experience with their seats. We all decided to chuck the deuces and drown our sorrows in some good sushi and cocktails at Nobu.
What a night!
The show airs on BET on November 6th at 8pm!
